　　寇洛琳的新家有一百五十三樣藍色的東西、二十一扇窗戶、十四道門。十四道門裡有十三道沒鎖，寇洛琳好奇地把每一道門都打開來看看。第十四道門是上了鎖的，但門後只有一面磚牆。有一天，寇洛琳偷偷地打開了這道門，卻發現門後竟然出現一條通往隔壁公寓的走道。

　　In Coraline's family's new flat are twenty-one windows and fourteen doors. Thirteen of the doors open and close.

尼爾．蓋曼（Neil Gaiman）

　　英國當代奇幻文學大師。一九六○年出生於英國漢普夏郡。一九八○年代初期投入新聞記者的工作，從事採訪與撰寫評論。一九八四年他出版了第一本書－－杜蘭杜蘭樂團的傳記，此後作品便源源不絕的問世，同時創作範圍涵蓋小說、散文、詩、童書、漫畫等，展現過人的才華與創意。
