The Exhibition on the First Floor of the Presidential Office From Governor-General’s Office to Presidential Office

　　How did Taiwan become a Japanese colony? And how did it then become the territory of the Republic of China? Here, we will look at the Treaty of Shimonoseki of 1895 and the actions of the governors-general of Taiwan during the 50 years of Japanese rule. These key historical materials provide an overview of Japan’s plans for southward advancement and the profound influence this period has had on Taiwan even to the present day.
