Kemp, a municipal chief executive officer, and author of several books on cities and local government, conducted a literature search to bring together a selection of published articles on how
the arts can be used to stimulate and revitalize cities and towns. Of the 45 articles from various planning journals, several discuss the general subject of cultural resources as economic
development tools, and several, the future; but most of the selections discuss specific cases in cities across the US. Appendices include national and regional resource directories, directories
of state art agencies and regional arts organizations, and a list of cities in the U.S. with arts, cultural, or entertainment districts. Annotation 穢2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
