Miner (former faculty director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, State U. of New York at Buffalo) presents and explains 19 microlevel organizational behavior theories, selected out
of a field of 38 based on criteria that measured their importance, institutionalization, validity, and usefulness. After providing some background on scientific method, theory construction and
evaluation, measurement considerations, and research design, organizational theories of motivation and leadership are presented in turn. Generally, the presentation of each theory provides
intellectual and historical background, discussion of the theory's development, analysis of the research utilizing the theory, evaluation of applications, and explanation and documentation of
the selection criteria ratings. Annotation 穢2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
