Between a tribute to Posner, a pioneer in researching the relationship between the mind and the brain, and his account of how he got where he is, former students, colleagues, and others present 10 papers on a theme he himself chose. Among the topics are the role of endogenous orienting in the inhibitory aftermath of exogenous orienting, some emerging issues in imaging the human brain, the ontogeny of the social brain, fronto-striatal and fronto-cerebellar circuitry underlying cognitive control, and the development and plasticity of human cognition.
