Eighteen papers presented by the editors (professors of psychology at the U. of North Carolina at Charlotte) provide clinicians and researchers with a summary and synthesis of the field and
suggestions for future work. General issues of theory and method are discussed in chapters on resilience, measurement issues, growth in the posttraumatic narrative, schema-change perspectives,
and posttraumatic growth and other outcomes of major loss in the context of complex lives. The next set of contributions is concerned with posttraumatic growth in specific contexts, including
after cancer, during bereavement, after war, in disaster and emergency work, among Holocaust child survivor. Finally, papers take a look at clinical applications, exploring forgiveness,
