Collecting Prints and Drawings in Europe, 1500-1750

Senior specialists in the field including David Landau, Nicholas Turner, and Caroline Elam, who is the former editor of The Burlington Magazine (which co-published this volume) present their research on early modern collectors and collections of prints and drawings. Individual collectors include Sir Peter Lely, Ferdinand Columbus, Jonathan Richardson, Pierre Crozat, and four Italian collectors from the 16th through the 18th centuries. The volume is well illustrated with b&w plates. Most of the papers were presented at the June 1997 Conference on the Collecting of Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery in London, the UK.
