A Christmas Tree in the White House

As a dedicated conservationist, President Theodore Roosevelt refused to allow a Christmas tree in the White House as he felt it was a terrible waste to kill a perfectly good tree, yet a surprise encounter with his sons and a meeting with the Chief Forester made him see things differently and a tree was permitted once more.
