in 2003-2004 (it traveled to the Art Institute of Chicago in 2004). Lengthy scholarly entries accompany each of the 216 works in the show (there are etchings, drawings, and paintings). There
are four essays: an introduction on Rembrandt's dramatic use of gesture by Ackley (curator of prints and drawings at the BMFA), an analysis of the artist's oil sketches, and a discussion of his
