內容簡介

Historians, along with a few scholars of religion and literature, trace the process whereby the project of thinking with legal and medical cases came to self-consciousness over the first millennium, spreading to include religion and philosophy, through the production of texts that gradually acquired a systematic and public character. Taking the three professions in turn, they consider such cases of cases as developing forensic knowledge though cases in the Qing dynasty, case records and pediatric medicine in late imperial China, and Confucian case learning.
