St Augustine’s Abbey, Canterbury

This is the first fully annotated edition of an extraordinary catalogue of the collections of St. Augustine's abbey at Canterbury. It provides detailed entries for the over 1,800 volumes comprising the collections, shown here to be about a century older than previously assumed, dating probably from the late-fourteenth century. A tremendous work of scholarship, this three volume edition gives a clear picture of one of the great libraries of medieval Britain.
