Drawing on three Canadian data sets from 1993, 1999, and 2004, Browning (family social sciences, U. of Manitoba) investigates populations of women that are particularly vulnerable to violent
victimization from an intimate male partner. He has published preliminary reports before, but here is able to define vulnerable populations, identify these groups as such, argue for the
importance of studying them, and show how the study of them fits within the field of family violence. He also explains his research methods and how they can be generalized to study vulnerable
populations in general. Annotation 穢2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
