This collection of essays offers historical accounts of many of the painters, sculptors, and printmakers who lived and worked in the North Fork of Long Island, New York from the 17th century until 1969. Editors and contributors Fleming (director, Southold Historical Society) and Evans (writer) and five additional contributors document the artistic and cultural history of the area through letters, photographs, diaries, and--of course--the art itself.
