內容簡介

Gaudreault (art history and film studies, U. of Montreal) begins with the premise that film narratology demonstrates a lack of consensus with respect to such basic notions as the narrator. Some ideas can be transferred from literature, he says, but in fact literary narratology suffers from many of the same deficits even though a written text can proclaim a narrator by as simple a tool as grammatical person. His topics include narrative problems, mimesis and diagesis as early narratology, the narrator and the monstrator, the origins of the film narrator, and delegated film narrators. Du litt矇raire au filmique was originally published by Les Presses de l'universit矇 Laval in 1988 and is translated by Timothy Barnard, a film historian, publisher and translator in Montreal.
