內容簡介

Ferrari (Greek literature, U. of L'Aquila, Italy) examines the fragmentary evidence surrounding Sappho's poems, largely drawn from papyri, and considers the iconographical representations of Sappho, the types of poems and their occasions, her audience, and her literary and cultural context. He also discusses political and personal life on the island, Sappho's family, and her contemporary Alcaeus. Greek texts and translations of major poems are provided. The book was originally published in 2007 in Italian as Una mitra per Cleis. Distributed in North America by The David Brown Book Co. Annotation 穢2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
