內容簡介

Music scholars examine the work of the three 20th-century Hungarian Composers Istv獺n Anhalt, Gy繹rgy Kurt獺g and S獺ndor Veress and others to find the impact of modern travel and migration on the composition, reception, and analysis of art music. After sketches of the three, the themes are place and displacement; perspectives on reception, analysis, and interpretation; and the presence of the past and memory in contemporary music. Among the topics are Anhalt's Kingston triptych, Kurt獺g's J獺t矇k as a voyage into the child's musical mind, and artistic autobiography in Kurt獺g's music. Most of the 20 essays, three in French, are from a January 2008 symposium in Calgary, Canada). Annotation 穢2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
