內容簡介

Scholars of the poetry of Hesiod will appreciate this companion book to his writing, which covers the state of research today as well as reviewing ancient reception of Hesiod. Montanari (ancient Greek literature, University of Genoa) along with Rengakos and Tsgalis, both in Greek literature at the Aristotle University of Thessalonki, have endeavored to present the range of views on Hesiod and the various ways of approaching his work. Some of the contributors look at the content of the work in terms of subject and style while others place him in the narrative traditions of his time. They also address the number of pseudo-Hesiodic works and the way in which the author became the subject of legends. A comprehensive, multi-lingual bibliography is provided for those who wish to research further. Annotation 穢2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
