previously published articles and chapters that provide an overview of the development and state of research of the field. The material is grouped into sections, with the first 7 chapters on
theory, including Joseph Schumpeter's 1947 chaper "The process of creative destruction", from his Capitalism, socialism and democracy and Frank H. Knight's 1921 chapter "Enterprise and profit"
from his Risk, uncertainty and profit. Innovation and growth, the innovation process, role models of the entrepreneur, knowledge flows, and institutions are the remaining sections, with
articles by economists that include Zvi Griliches, Edward P. Lazear, AnnaLee Saxenian, and Edward L. Glaeser. The editors provide an introduction to the collection; the articles and chapters
