The social scientist knows if they see a blue Routledge cover, they're in the library of a serious scholar. And now, mental health professionals may do the same with the green Routledge covers
for Routledge mental health titles. In this volume, the method and applications of reflective practice for mental health professionals are described in detail, with frequent excerpts from a
wide body of relevant thinkers on the topic. Scaife describes the practice of reflective practice, framing it with personal examples and case studies and describing various approaches. She then
describes how to create a supervisory climate that encourages reflective practice, followed by four chapters detailing approaches using inquiry; self-awareness; de-centering and multiple
perspectives; and live methods, recordings and groups. Concluding chapters describe techniques for writing as a tool and methods for supervisory assessment. An appendix contains Carper's model
of reflective practice. Both author and subject indexes are provided. Scaife (formerly the director of clinical practice, U. of Sheffield, the UK) developed this volume from a workshop she led
at the U. of Glasgow department of clinical psychology. Annotation 穢2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
