Laura Woodward: The Artist Behind the Innovator Who Developed Palm Beach

Hudson River School artist, Laura Woodward (1834-1926), from Orange County, New York, became Florida's most important 19th-century woman artist and one of its greatest publicists. In the 1880s and 1890s, she explored much of Florida, braving the state's dangerous interior to depict its natural beauty. She was one of the first professional women artists to paint in Miami and the Everglades and influenced Henry Flagler to develop the most magnificent resort in the world�alm Beach.
