This volume brings together a selection of mountain photography by photographer, climber, and explorer Vittorio Sella (1859-1943) from an exhibition organized by the Estorick Collection in London and shown from June to September 2008, in honor of the 150th anniversary of his birth. Following an introduction to his works, the book presents breathtaking photos of Alaska, Caucasus, the Alps, Sikkim, Ruwenzori, and Karakoram taken between 1884 and 1909, and including panoramas, which show amazing artistic and technical ability rivaling that of photographers today.
