articles included here demonstrate in depth research and analysis, mostly covering subjects in Europe, although two chapters focus on the U.S. and Native Americans. The chapter by Jackier and
Vining (Smithsonian Institute) features many photographs, taken in the early twentieth century, of the social aspects of women and military dress, while others contain pictures and
illustrations of earlier military use of fabric, along with remnants of the textiles themselves. Contains extensive references, often citing multiple journal entries for one footnote, but no
