內容簡介

In August 1972, two bronze statues, apparently of the same warrior or god, were discovered some 300 meters off the coast of Italy under about eight meters of water and are now in the Museum at Reggio Calabria, where they are known as the Riace Statues. The eight essays here, in parallel columns of English and Italian, are from a symposium in Calabria at an undisclosed date. They discuss the bronzes in the museum, the shipwreck, the critical analysis of the statues, the style and dating, the workshop of the bronzes, the provenance, the popularity of the bronzes, and from absence to sexuality. Photographs show details and analogues. There is no index. Distributed in the US by International Publishers Marketing (IPM). Annotation 穢2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
