Professor Street's book contains laudable and much needed translations of current Italian plays which might otherwise have remained unknown to English readers. His selection of both older and younger playwrights introduces the reader to writers who have been, until now, little known outside Italy. The Foreword, by Dr. Jane House gives an extremely informative historical overview as well.
