Along with a conference and another publication, Belibani and Panunzi's (both architecture, Sapienza U. of Rome, Italy) text is one of three components of the Research Report of PRIN 2006, exploring research and experimentation in new models for e-learning in architecture. Eleven contributions by 17 Italian academics provide an overview of the project and background to the study, followed by descriptions of the research conducted at five Italian universities. Several chapters focus on surveys of the tools and applications; others describe and analyze specific examples of the methodologies as applied in teaching settings. The report recommends incorporation of information science tools and e-learning, particularly into the various independent stages of an architect's learning itinerary, as a component of architecture education.
