Redefining ��Urban��: A New Way to Measure Metropolitan Areas

This publication presents a new OECD methodology for defining "urban," one that enables cross-country comparison of the socioeconomic and environmental performance of metropolitan areas. It applies this methodology to twenty-seven OECD countries, and it includes case studies of urbanization dynamics in China, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
