Intent on contributing to this relatively new management field, Verbeke (U. of Calgary, Canada, among other affiliations) and Merchant (U. of South Florida) have structured a compendium of 24
articles (some, their own; others from carefully selected authors who wrote on assigned topics). Conceptual foundation topics include key hypotheses that make internationalization theory the
general theory of international strategic management; the new eclectic paradigm and international business strategy; and the multinational enterprise as a global factory. Structural
complexities are addressed in chapters on initiative in multinational subsidiaries, joint venture configurations in big emerging markets, and building competitive advantage in international
acquisitions. Implications of distance issues are discussed as are trends, new conceptions of the MNE-development relationship, and climate change strategies. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc.,
