Written as the author’s doctoral thesis in corporate finance at the Technische U. Darmstadt, Germany, this volume investigates the capital market effects of mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
for managers of brewing companies, investors, and financial researchers. The research is conducted through three studies examining: short-term wealth effects of horizontal M&A transactions
and whether the global synergy and efficiency potential of the sector are reflected by the capital markets in the form of abnormal stock price reactions to acquiring and to close rival
companies; the long-term shareholder wealth effects of horizontal M&A on acquirers and rivals; and whether M&A strategies employed by brewing companies are reflected by capital markets
in the form of abnormal risk shifts to acquiring brewers and rival companies. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
