Wade-Evans (1875-1964) is best known for his histories of post-Roman Britain and the Celtic church. His 1944 Latin edition with English translation of Lives of Welsh Saints provided a more
reliable edition of saints’ lives and genealogies from the Cotton MS in the British Library, which dates to about 1200. It remains the standard edition, though it has been out of date for 50
years. Lives are provided for 11 saints, the English translation facing pages of the original Latin. Genealogies are provided for six powerful families, variously in Latin and Welsh. For this
new edition, editor Scott Lloyd has added Wade-Evans’ 1930 English translation of ＂Beuno Sant＂ and an excerpt from his 1923 Life of St. David; these appendices are not integrated into the
