內容簡介

Scholars of history, philosophy, and literature consider the relevance and interpretation of the Indian epic Mahabharata in today’s world. Their topics include the methodology of the critical edition, understanding Yudhisthira’s actions: recasting Karma-Yoga in a Wittgensteinian mold, traditional interpretations of the aesthetics of the Mahabharata, some insights from the Mahabharata on care ethics and epistemic justice, sleep and violence: reading the Sauptikaparvan in times of terror, and an ethics of conversation in the Mahabharata. The 12 essays are from an April 2010 spring school at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study. Annotation ©2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
