of dress; culture and society concepts; interdisciplinary sources about dress and their contributions to knowledge; the basic physical requirements dress fulfills; physical similarities and
differences, including appearance; the body, dress, and environment; the dress practices of different sociocultural systems, including the commercial sociocultural system and tribal and
imperial worlds; and dress as art. It incorporates 15 readings about dress from different cultures, including a new reading in this edition on the Qing dynasty of China. It also has a
newly-organized section on sociocultural systems of world culture and dress, which uses Bodley’s revised analysis of sociological systems to relate to dress and fashion around the world,
