Homestretch

After his mother is killed in a hit-and-run by a Mexican immigrant and his dad starts to hit him, Gas runs away and works at a racetrack stable with a family of Mexicans--the kind of people his father had taught him to hate--in a story about the true meaning of family where Gas is promised glory as a jockey.
