Mining in Cornwall: Camborne to Redruth

It is well known that Cornwall is acknowledged internationally as the home of hard-rock mining and the cradle of the steam engine. The rich mineral deposits with which the county is historically endowed created the desire to seek the knowledge and skills to discover and mine them. Affecting the development of many other industries, in particular engineering, Cornwall’s fame spread to every mining area of the globe. As a result mining created employment and stability until the last quarter of the twentieth century.
