Selected from presentation at the 2012 iteration of the annual Literature in English Symposium, held in Poznan, Poland, 14 essays explore the portrayal of travel in time and space in literature
from around the world written in the English language. Among the topics are the heirlooms and burdens of Marina Warner, scenes of trauma in the theater of human rights, travels between the
lines of Shakespeare’s The Tempest, and Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, discourses of power in Richard Hakluyt’s Principal Navigations, and memory and forgetfulness in the recent Booker novels.
