In selected papers from a recent conference, international contributors report on current theory and practice in safety and security engineering. Papers are grouped in sections on risk analysis
and management, critical infrastructure protection, emergency response, security surveillance systems, wastewater, and waste plants, human factors, modeling and experiments, and systems safety.
Some specific subjects examined include chemical risks to workers’ health in contaminated sites, process safety catastrophes on the Texas Gulf Coast, harmless screening of humans for the
