Jordanian writer Bustani’s collection of 78 flash fiction pieces was originally published in 2012 as the Arabic Ará al-máná, and appears here in facing pages of Arabic and English. Among the sections are: Laila and the wolf, the book of meaning, short dialogues with Humberto Ak’abal, requiem for the Aral Sea, this deluge of emotion is going to make me vomit, and history will not be made on this couch.
