The Audacity of Goats

All is not tranquil north of the tension line.  A series of alarming nighttime incidents have the islanders wondering  whether to be nervous or annoyed. Is it an elaborate teenage prank, or is there a stranger hiding on the Island? The out of state owners of a new goat farm seem to think they know better than anyone else how to run things; the ferry captain, Pali, is troubled by his unique version of writer’s block, and his ten year old son, Ben, is hiding something.  But when the imperturbable Lars Olufsen announces his retirement from public office and Stella declares her intention to run, islanders realize that life as they know it is about to change for the worse. And Fiona Campbell has to decide whether it’s time to leave the Island for good, or to make another reckless gamble.

The Audacity of Goats is the continuing tale of Fiona Campbell and her reluctant adventures among the pleasures, mysteries, and exasperations of life on a small island in Door County Wisconsin.
