Editors Fernndez Prez and Lluch presents readers with a collection of scholarly contributions comparing the relationship of families in business with their national economies, foreign capital,
migration, and politics. They argue against the existence of a Latin type of family capitalism while highlighting diversity and national and regional differences. The editors have organized the
twelve contributions that make up the main body of the text in four parts devoted to comparative analysis; large national markets and large family groups in Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina;
business families and politics in small and medium-sized markets in Colombia, Costa Rica, and Honduras, and business families between dictatorship and democracy in Spain, Peru, and Chile.
