Foreign Trends in American Gardens: A History of Exchange, Adaptation, and Reception

Giannetto presents a collection of essays discussing the history of foreign influence on American landscape design. Focus is on the influences of Britain, France, Italy, and later, Japan. Of special note is a chapter discussing the American identity as it is revealed through landscape design. There are a number of illustrations, both historical and more contemporary, although much of the text focuses on the 19th and early 20th centuries.
