Geis presents readers with a collection of academic essays and scholarly articles focused on the dramatic works produced by Beat Generation writers and playwrights. She has organized the twenty-four selections that make up the main body of the text in five parts devoted to the “Canonical” Beats, the “Afro-Beats,” Poets’ Theatre and The Beats, early Off-Off Broadway theatre, and film and Beat performance.
