Three Other Theban Plays: Aeschylus’ Seven Against Thebes; Euripides’ Suppliants; Euripides’ Phoenician Women

Luschnig has translated three Athenian tragedies that were written between 467 and 410 BCE and have all been performed on stage in translation and adaptation by commercial, academic, and community theaters during the 21st century. The plays are Aeschylus’ Seven Against Thebes, Euripides’ Suppliants, and Phoenician Women. She includes a 60-page introduction on Dionysus and the dramatic festivals for which the play were written, the three tragedians, the legends and the city of Athens, and conventions of the Greek tragic theater.
