內容簡介

US scholars of communication and education tease out differences in the behaviors of men and women in casino and non-casino gambling, and in the process demonstrate how the phenomenon of gambling can be researched through the lenses of popular culture, gender studies, communication, and sociology. The study is intended to expand the study of gambling from beating either the system or an addiction. The topics include advice from the experts about reading the poker face, gendered discourses of US online gambling regulation, gambling girlfriends, superstitious behavior rituals of male and female gamblers in slot machines and lottery play, and gender differences in the gambling behavior and preferences of college students.
